Dr. Gomez-Barquero, project manager of 5G-Xcast, participated at the IEEE Broadcast Technology (BTS) Society Young Professional Workshop 2018 on the theme “The Convergence of Broadcasting and 5G Enabling Technologies”.
The Workshop was organised by the University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) during 16th-17th of April 2018. The programme is attached here.
IEEE BTS Young Professionals program (formerly GOLD) was created to help students transition to young professionals within the Broadcast Technology Society IEEE community.
The Workshop was tailored towards Researchers, PhD, Masters, and Bachelor Students active or interested in future broadcasting networks.
The Workshop lasted two days and focused on a program of lectures, given by international experts in the area of broadcasting and 5G systems.
Lectures provided background on 5G wireless communication concepts and particular emphasis will be placed on broadcast and multicast convergence in 5G networks.
Over 100 students had the opportunity to participate in a stimulating forum of scientists, to present their own work, to obtain feedbacks and to start up collaborations.
Dr. Gomez-Barquero gave a talk on “Broadcast and Multicast Communications Enablers for 5G” as an IEEE BTS Distinguished Lecturer.
Dr. Gomez-Barquero is very active on the IEEE BTS. He is also a Senior Member of IEEE, an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, and the general-chair of the IEEE BMSB 2018 conference.
