5G-Xcast and One5G 5G-PPP Phase-II projects organized a joint workshop at the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC) 2019 edition, held 15th to 19th April in Marrakech, Morocco. The workshop attracted around 17 high quality papers related to MIMO, Massive MIMO, Waveform design and Networking aspects. There were also two plenary talks on “Mobile AI for Beyond 5G Networks” by Merouane Debbah (Huawei) and “The 5G network deployment in Japan” by Seizo Onoe (NTT DoCoMo).
During the same conference, the 5G-Xcast TM, Belkacem Mouhouche, also chaired a panel on “PAVING THE WAY TOWARDS 6G”. The panel participants included very high caliber speakers: Rahim Tafazolli (5GIC, Surrey University), Hamid Aghvami (King’s College), Qingwen Liu (Tongji University), Oghenekome Oteri (Interdigital Communications) and Ari Pouttu (University of Oulu). The speakers shared their vision on beyond 5G research initiatives and how the transition to 6G will happen.
